"In order to provide local music students the opportunity to experience playing in a full orchestra ensemble, the NSO partners with the Portland-based Oregon Pro Arte Youth Chamber Orchestra. OPAYCO is conducted by NSO violinist Cindy Petty. Local students are invited to become guest-members of OPAYCO for two spring performances at the Newport Performing Arts Center.
This program includes two rehearsals for local students with Ms. Petty, a dress rehearsal with OPAYCO members, a daytime performance for Lincoln County students, and an evening public performance. Intermediate and advanced students are invited to apply to participate.

A Gala Concert in Honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Portland/Sapporo Sister City Relationship!
Oregon Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra and Oregon Pro Arte Youth Chamber Orchestra conducted by Cindy H. Petty will join together with their sister city orchestra, Sapporo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Masaki Nakata to present a gala concert in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Portland/Sapporo sister city relationship on Sunday, November 15th, 2009 at 3PM at the Governor Hotel Heritage Ballroom in Portland, Oregon!
The concert program will include the following:
Bernstein, Overture to Candide
Mahler, Symphony No. 1
Khachaturian, Dance from Gayane
Miyazaki, Music from Totoro
Pre-Concert music presented by the Pro Arte Conservatory Strings!
